BUDGET 2025: Budget LEAKED ahead of time

Page Content

Budget leak alert: The Office for Budget Responsibility — that’s the independent body that checks the government’s sums — has accidentally released its latest Budget document early.

According to the leak, tax allowances will remain frozen, which means your personal tax thresholds aren’t rising with inflation.

That might sound small, but it’s a big deal for households. As wages rise, more people get pulled into paying higher levels of tax — something called “fiscal drag.”

In plain English: even if your pay goes up, you could end up paying more tax without realising it.If you can, check whether you’re close to a tax threshold and think about using your ISA or pension allowances to shelter more of your money from tax.
